Flip Video Camera: Never record over a video!

The Flip Video Camera has a neat feature that I have not seen before on traditional tape video cameras; Protecting your videos still on the camera from being recorded over by new video.

Basically, it works like this. (Screen shots are not possible for this hint).

When you turn on the Flip Video Camera to record something, at the top of the screen you have a series of red font numbers. This number is the amount of time remaining on the Flip's internal drive.

The drive is where the videos you shoot are stored for playback. The Ultra Series Flip Camera has a 60 minute drive available.

When ever you shoot a new video, the Flip automatically appends it to the end of the drive - even if you just viewed an older video on the drive. So you can never record over your old videos.

But wait, there is more, in case you have purchased or demo'd a Flip yet.

Whenever you are not recording, you can view videos by pushing the >>> arrow key on the Flip's back cover. You can skip videos by pressing either the left or right arrow key on the control wheel on the back as well.

Each video is numerically listed, 1,2,3 etc. If there is a video you no longer wish to keep, push the trashcan icon for Delete. That space is now freed up on the Flip's hard driver.

However, if you want to keep all videos, just keep shooting! When you fill the 60 minute drive, no more recording.

For best results, remember to download videos you really want to keep to your PC or laptop. Also, if the batteries go dead in your flip, all videos are lost! No fun!

So download often and regularly!

Have fun with your Flip Video Camera and if you have not purchased yours yet, get over to Amazon and save big bucks on The Flip and Flip accessories!
