The Flip debuted just a few short years ago and was soon purchased by Cisco. For the past two years (2008-2010), several new and improved Flip models were added and it quickly became one of the top selling video cameras on the market. Some estimate that the Flip had 35% of the video camera market..
Cisco says it will continue to support the Flip with software upgrades and so forth, but it seems hard to believe considering they let go of all 550 employees. There are other models coming onto the market, but none I have seen so far have the same price point or following the Flip Video Camera had.

along with accessories and the pricing is still the same. Cisco says the cameraphone market is growing and so the Flip will become obsolete. I have a camera phone on my Blackberry and the quality is nowhere near the same as the high quality Flip so I think the decision was premature.
I loved and still love my Flip cameras and will continue to use them for years to come. Like other companies, Cisco may decide at a future date to spin off the Flip into a separate company.
