Flip Video Camera | Backing Up Flip Videos

A quick note on backing up and storing Flip videos on your computer.

If you update the FlipShare software on your computer, your videos may get moved to a new folder created by the software. Not too worry, your videos are safe, but they may have been renamed.

Look for a folder or new directory created on your computer after the software upgrade called FlipShare. That is where your previously stored videos are now.

Also, what is the best way to move videos from one computer to another? I wish I could use my external hard drive, but the manufacturer recommends that users use the Flip camera to safely move videos.

Attach the Flip camera, use, the FlipShare software to move the old videos from the computer to the camera. Attach the Flip to the new computer and move. Time consuming, but safe to do.

The Flip Video Camera | Low Light

The Flip Video Camera is nearly the perfect video camera and that is evident by the sales since 2008. Already the Flip has captured a huge percentage of the video camera market.

Why? The Flip is inexpensive, easy to use and simple to operate.

The Flip camera does not come with a built in light for low level light situations, like a darkened ballroom or outdoors. Some users have complained that their Flip videos indoors during nighttime events have a tendancy to come out grainy or low quality.

I have used my Flip to record indoor events at some differennt places and while natural light gives a better recording, some indoor lights are enough for decent quality.

Flip does have an LED light accessory:

I found this light accessory online and it looks very ungainly to use - it is bigger than the Flip! It is LED and the product advertisement says it is "dimmable" but the only review I found for it says there is no dimming switch.

For me, I use the Flip where it works best and because of it's small size, I can take my camera just about anywhere. Unlike a traditional video camera, which has a power recharger and all those cords, the Flip runs on regular batteries which makes it even better to use.

Flip Video Camera | Flip SideHD

New for Christmas this year! The Flip SlideHD!

This camera rocks. Like most modern cell phones, the new Flip SlideHD opens up for easy and quick viewing.

Look at the record time - 4 hours on the 4GB memory. The old Flip had only one hour originally so this is a great improvement.

The new Flip SlideHD still has the ease of use USB connector for direct computer downloads. No cords to lose or break.

This is a cool new Flip phone. Unfortanately, my wife saw it too and wants one for Christmas. Sigh. That means two new Flips!

Flip Share Media Extender

Have you heard about the Flip Share Media Extender for the Flip video camera. The word is cool.

The Flip Share Media Extender wirelessly connects your home computer with your television allowing effortless playback of Flip videos, instead of passing the camera around or having to wire it up.

Here's how it works.

The Flip Share system comes with a wireless hub which connects to the television, USB wireless dongle which connects to a home computer and a remote controller. Videos are read from the computer and transmitted over 802.11b to the wireless hub attached to the television. Playback, rewind and forward is controlled by the remote control. Videos can be easily shared and arranged with the Media Extender.

The Flip Share Media Extender system only works with Flip videos for now. The hardware is very sleek and compliments the functional and popular Flip Video camera.

Very neat idea from Flip!
